Oh, Sense Less One

See No Evil

One thing I dislike about daylight savings time is having to drive home from work in the dark.  Reason being:  I can’t see.  I can’t count the number of times I have driven on the curb thinking it was a driveway or completely missing my turn altogether because I could not find the driveway.1

If I have to drive at night, with people in the car, in between conversation I work in the occasional “I can’t see” or “I hope nobody steps out in front of the car” or “It sure is dark”, just so they know my last words.

I’m a great driver but sometimes I have to rely on my hearing to guide my way, or listen out for screams when I’m temporarily unable to see.  This got me to thinking would I rather be blind or deaf.  If I had to lose one of these two senses, which one could I live without?  As much as I LOVE music, I would have to give up my hearing because I could still be independent and deaf.

Several years ago, I took a course in ASL (American Sign Language) I never completed, but I’m still a quick finger speller and would have no problem communicating as a deaf person.  If however, I lost my sight….well I get lost with the lights on. I would not be able to cope as well.

Out of curiosity which one would you choose?  Would you rather be blind or deaf and why?

My Playlist Sucks!

mp3
I need some help. While I was thrilled to finally be able to add more than 20 tracks on my new MP3 after scrolling through my songs I realized something, my playlist sucks! It’s not that I don’t love the songs on my player, but they are old and outdated, it’s like 8-track meets MP3.

What’s new out there, is it me or are the artists just not as good today?

I’m looking to add some fresh new songs to my player. Actually what I’m looking for is some great workout music and I’m open to suggestions. I’m open to all types of music that when played backwards do not tell me to cut, drug or kill myself or open a store credit card.

What’s on your playlist? Can you recommend a song? Even if it’s a few years old it will be new to me. Thanks!

David Gregory’s “Just Fine” Dance

A friend of mine emailed me a link to this video that has me in stitches. I love it! I love this song, no matter what kind of mood I’m in I have to move something, even if it’s just my shoulders and dance. David proves that point with his smooth foot work. He’s a pretty good dancer too, he knows when to turn, has rhythm and he feels the music. He looks like he’s having fun! If I was Mary I would not have been able to hold it together, like wait a minute, I’m the entertainer here! Who’s supposed to be entertaining who! Ah, I wish they could have gotten more footage of David. He just auditioned to be a background dancer if you ask me. Go David. Go David. “Shaking everything he got” my daughter once said.

What’s your feel good song?

An excerpt from Just Fine:

So I like what I see when I’m looking at me
When I’m walking past the mirror
Aint worried about you and what you gonna do
I’m a lady so I must stay classy
Got to keep it hot, keep it together
If I want to get better
You see I wouldn’t change my life, my life’s just…
Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine, fine
