How to Create A Favicon

I always wanted one for my website and blog but never knew what it was or how to create one. Last month I stumbled upon help and as you can see, my pink lady (my web avatar) has been sitting pretty for weeks.
If you would like to create one for your website or blog, the site below (this is not the one I used for mine, I forgot to bookmark it,) will give you the tool and explain how to do it. Basically you….
- Upload your picture (to the website below)
- Generate your favicon
- Save it to your hard drive, open it
- Upload the favicon to the root of your site (blog)
That’s it! It’s really easy to do and there are instructions for people who don’t have access to their root directory, (i.e. Blogger). So go ahead and get those favicons up there, come back here and leave a link to your blog so I can see.

I always have trouble getting to that site so I often use http://www.freefavicon.com/
They also have a collection of free favicons you can just download and use in case you are in a rush or don’t feel creative. I know it has come in handy for me.

Oh no Barbara, you’re still the teacher. I can’t tell you who or what SEO is. I merely stumble upon stuff, the pressure is still on.
oh yeah, this link validates your favicon is there http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/validator/
and you have to make sure it’s named the same as your default favicon..it’s usually favicon.ico. the website above automatically names it correctly.

This is completely OT, and I am far too lazy to email you but I wanted to let you know that I was not deleting your comments or ignoring you on my site. For some reason, Askimet was tagging your comments as spam. I’m not sure why but I finally was able to go through and un-spam you so the comments show up and hopefully now your comments will go back to showing up when you leave them.
And now onto favicons… I think they are so cool. I want to know how people make the gif file ones with the rotating text and image. Hopefully this site will let me do it.

I did this just the other day! On my website it showed up, but now it’s gone! And I never could get it to work with by blog (blogger)…hmmmm…I wonder what I did wrong? But I dont see yours either? Maybe it’s….ME?!?!?! LOL!

Hmm OlgaTTB, I can see mine now, but never at work. I never seen anyone’s favicon at work regardless of the website. I’ll have to investigate…yours disappeared? Did you clean out your browser’s temporary files?

Corrina, can you really see my favicon…no one else can, but me. That would be great if you can…I have to have someone else look into it so that it’s not playing peek-a-boo with me. Cool, do the goldfish favicon, I’ll be over to see if for sure.
