I Hate TV!
Okay I don’t hate TV, but I can do without it. What I don’t understand is when do people have time to sit down and watch TV? I guess when I’m sitting at my computer surfing the Internet? Personally, I watch two shows a week, The Suze Orman Show and Desperate Housewives. Oh I try to catch the morning news before going to work and I also watch my NJ Nets.
The American Academy of Pediatrics says children shouldn’t watch TV before they’re two so that their brains can develop properly. Katie Couric says parents should avoid using the TV as a babysitter.
TV is not as good as it used to be, it’s not even funny. It’s vulgar, it’s violent, they show you everything, I wouldn’t even call it Tell-e-vision, but Show-e-vision, nothing is left to the imagination.
My daughter wants to know how come we don’t have a TV in the car and truth is, I don’t want a TV in the car, if she needs to watch something that bad, stay home. (Of course, we do have a portable DVD player for long car trips. I’m okay with that, but we don’t need a TV on for local errands). We normally talk, do math problems, play games or just be quiet while in the car. She’s enrolled in the TV turn-off through her school, and only gets 1 hour of TV time each day and her weekends are free. I love TV turn-off.
Some people sleep with the TV on and some people leave it on for background noise. I don’t need it, I can watch my shows on the internet. LOL. I’m a bookworm, I feel naked without a book and I’m sure maybe that’s how people feel without their television. I’m certainly not knocking anyone if you love television, do you! I love the Internet. Everything in moderation.
PS - How many hours a week do you or your kids spend watching TV? Have you used the TV as a babysitter? What do you think about what the AAP said?

I agree 1000% on the fact that TV is becoming boring yet some people seem to be addictive to it!
Personally I haven’t sat down to watch TV purposely for over 2 years… it would have to be something very special to get me to sit down infront of the box.
The less tv the better I think as it is an anti-social toy.
