If My Life Were A Movie
If your life were a movie right now, what celebrity would get the lead role and what type of movie would it be? A drama? Documentary? Comedy? Science Fiction? Action? Thriller?
If my life, right now, were a movie it would be a tragedy1 and based on personality and comedic likeness, Ellen Degeneres would play me. I know, I know, she’s not as tall as I am, but there’s make-up for that, otherwise, perfect match. It would go something like this:
Synopsis: For the past 17 years of doing the 9 to 5 grind at less than fulfilling jobs, the frustrated and wanna-be writer, Valerie (played by Ellen Degeneres) decides to take the advice of friends and submit her work to several literary agents. After many attempts, rejects, no response and one false hope, self-publishing seems like her only option, that is, before she is introduced to the world of blogging.
Soon Valerie finds herself swept up into Blogosphere with not just one, but five blogs. Testing the waters at what comes naturally to her, she decides to write incognito as a wisecracking blogger and quickly gains the following of a small group of loyal readers who demand more.
Meanwhile, her real world is in jeopardy when D (played by Will Smith)2 stumbles upon a blog that seems to be an open book of his life and demands to know the person behind the name. Watch Valerie in this hysterical comedy go to any lengths as she tries to keep her two worlds from colliding and destroying the house that Jack built.
Now, it’s your turn, maybe you don’t have a synopsis right now, consider this a meme,3 but if your life were a movie, what celebrity would get the lead role? According to this site, Ellen isn’t even an option for me based on looks, click here to see my celebrity look-alikes.
I really have to upload some new pictures of myself.

I’d pay $8.50 to see that one. Depending on the ending, I may even rent it when it comes out on DVD too.

I can’t say much about a movie about my life, particularly when you sound like you’re in such trouble! I will keep you in my thoughts & hope things work out for the best. Surely this rough patch can be smoothed over!
Lana’s last blog post..Another New Painting
Hmmm….I have to ponder a bit. What movie would have…I got it! Parenthood! A combination of many characters in that movie! All challenges bring stronger you!
Mark Salinas’s last blog post..MidWeek Challenge
I think mine would be a happy-smiley-feel-good movie. I don’t know that it would be worth the entrance fee though.
I would totally pay to see that movie…and I am one of those readers demanding MORE!!
xxxoo
meleah rebeccah’s last blog post..My Daddy And The Tire
Hi Natural,
You could be onto something. Got time to write the script in between managing the 5 blogs?
A movie of my life would be rather boring, so the lead would probably be a struggling, starving actress who would take ANY role, just to have work.
I would have Loretta Devine play my life as a love story/comedy
a love story (fantasy) - alfreda woodfred ( I THINK SHE’S THE BEST, ESPECIALLY IN “MISS EVERS BOYS” - BUT A LOVE STORY THAT MAKES YOU WANT TO BE IN LOVE. A TRUE FANTASY ABOUT SOMEONE LOVING YOU IN THE METAPHOR - NOT THE PHYSICAL.. SOME OF THE BEST LOVING IS NOT PHYSICAL.
a drama/suspense - angela bassett (HERE’S ANOTHER ‘10′ IN THE WORLD OF ACTRESSES - AN ESPIONAGE DRAMA WITH INTELLECTUAL SUSPENSE.. NOT THE “P DIDDY” LEVEL… AND CERTAINLY NOT THE “JAMES BOND” TYPE EITHER, BUT MORE LIKE ‘THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR”..
a comedy - erica waynick - NOW THIS ONE… OH BOY - I CAN SEE ME AND LUCY ARNEZ GETTING DOWN ON THIS ONE… OR EVEN ME AND TYLER PERRY!! - I WOULD THINK A MIXED MARRIAGE (BLK AND ___) WITH ME AS THE WIFE/MOTHER WOULD MAKE AN EXCELLENT COMEDY SITCOM!!
Valerie - I am LMAO here. How on earth did u choose those lookalikes & what made u put men among them?
I love Ellen DeGeneres & I can picture her doing your warm up thing in the gym.
For me - I think it would have to be the woman who plays Phoebe in friends. I forgot her real name. But she is a lot taller than I am.
You have five blogs?! Wow, I’ve been going to bed at 1:45 a.m. trying to keep up with one blog. I’ve never thought of who would play me in a movie . . . I think I’ll flatter myself and say Salma Hayek. And I’m also one of the readers clamoring for more
Marelisa’s last blog post..30 Tips for Getting Along With Others
I’m sorry that your movie would be a tragedy.
I think mine would be a drama with plenty of comic relief moments splattered in.
As for celebrities, I don’t really follow them so am not familiar enough with their names to pick one.
Vered - MomGrind’s last blog post..Almost-Wordless Wednesday: Correct Your Nose Without Operation!
Oy vey, mine would be a dramedy — dark humor that had lots and lots of tragedy with some wry wit.
Hmm, I think Kelly McGillis is actually a good fit.
But I’d prefer Heidi Klum; she always seems so happy. And that would add to the irony.
cardiogirl’s last blog post..Am I the only one who’s afraid of the police?
Sal, I’ll be by to pick up the $8.50, just kidding….the ending would be good. Went to your blog, love it.
Lana, uh sure you can Lana, that’s why I asked the question. Tragedy (turned comedy), and thank you for thinking of me.
Mark, Parenthood, I think I’ve seen that movie, interesting choice, gives me a bit of insight in to you.
Solomon, come on, that could be made interesting. I like happy, smiley feel good movies….sure it would be worth the entrance fee.
Meleah, send money. :). More? What do you want me to blog about, got any topic suggestions. I’m open. I have a darn video in my head that just won’t go away, I need to direct it. Any videographers out there. I need you.
Barbara, uh no I wish I had time to write a script….maybe in the future. Yes, 5 blogs! I don’t post to 3 on a regular basis and one is a sports blog that will get more posting when basketball season starts. A movie about your life would be boring, more boring than mine? I guess I find a way to make boring funny, have to.
Kat, wow, I’m so proud of you for making it here after much, you say pestering, I say guidance. I can totally see LD playing you.
Erica, uh wow, those are good choices for you. Angela Bassett is fierce, one of my favorites. I would come to your movie just for the drama. : )
Cath, oh I didn’t pick those lookalikes for myself. LOL. The website I linked analyzes your uploaded photo and then finds celebrities that match your facial features…those are the celebs that came up for me or either I’m half man. Lol…Phoebe from friends..now I have a visual connection to you, got it!
Marelisa, yeah 5 blogs. Your posts are much longer than mine, if I wrote like that, I’d post once a month, and you do a super job. I don’t try to post to them everyday, once a week, sometimes more, is sufficient (so I thought). Hmmm, Salma Hayek, I can’t pick her out of a line up, but I have heard of her name.
Vered, it would be a tragedy, turned comedy…my life is not that bad, but not drama filled either. Crap happens, I cry and then I’m back to laughing. I can’t even match you with a celebrity, maybe Nicole Kidman?
CardioGirl, that’s a cool word, dramedy. I think this could be me: dark humor, tragedy and wry wit. I’m going to go Yahoole Kelly McGillis, I don’t know who she is…Heidi K, I do know, she does seem happy all the time…of course I would show up at your premier, I already think your blog should be a book…which I’m on my way over to read because I’m afraid the police too. I rolled my eyes at one today.
mine Smokey and the Bandit with me being played by…Marlon Brando
robert bourne’s last blog post..Sun Kissed Water
No, don’t stop there. Frig, that was just the trailer. I want the spoiler!!!! My movie? Gosh…okay Rachel Weisz gets to play me. Hmmm…as for the Lion? I just asked him, he says George Clooney. Actually, based on Oh Brother Where Art Thou, I think that works *guffaw*

Urban Panther’s last blog post..Sugar and salt, it ain’t my fault!
According to the site - apparently Anthony Hopkins would be the best according to looks.
I wanna know your 5 blogs - and what happens in your movie!
Robin’s last blog post..Feelings Are There To Be Felt
I want to see your movie… and it’s been a while since Ellen has been in anything.
Um, as for myself…. it would definitely be a comedy, because I have had way too much damn drama in my life.. and I would be played by M’onique or someone hysterical and stupid. However, according to that site, it should be Ann Margaret or Beyonce.
Monique’s last blog post..Guaranteed To Gain 25 Pounds By Winter

Tara@From Dawn Till Rusk’s last blog post..Famous again
Nice post. I always like the posts when you share a bit about yourself and I’d love to watch your movie. This would make a good meme, might get me out of my third hibernation, lol. MMMmm, who would play me; Jodie foster, she’s mysterious, dark, deep, unpredictable, emotional, mellow and intelligent; well that’s in most of her movies, so she’ll do well in mine, “I think I’m kinda like that”.
Tondy’s last blog post..Sometimes you just don’t have a title and this is one of those times!
Oh yah the look-alikes are funny, lol
Tondy’s last blog post..Sometimes you just don’t have a title and this is one of those times!
I would be played by Sally Field, and it would be a weepy drama full of sadness, with brave smiling and facing the future at the end.
That website rejected my photo as too small. Too bad, I wanted to find out who looks like me.
Wow….your level of creativity is awesome. I don’t know who my actress would be and I’d have to say the movie would be a min-series drama. The kind that holds you on the edge of your seat. Knuckles gripped tight. Chest heavy with anticipation; Having to remember to breath only when you realize you’re holding your breath……then TO BE CONTINUED…..flashes across the screen!!!!
This meme is one of the more interesting ones, I think, with people doing amazingly different things with it! I loved this one!
But .. five blogs??? Are you Superwoman?
“Any videographers out there. I need you.”
Hey! Im your girl!!
I’ve just subscribed to your feeds to be read in a reader but am wondering why there is no title to your blog appearing in it. It says “untitled”…??
I’m with Barbara, I think a script is in order here. You’ve got the synopsis, so go for it! As for my life, well it would have been a tragedy turned adventure pre-motherhood. Maybe Julia Roberts could have played me - not because I’ look like her, but she does seem to have a bit of my energy about her and I have a huge smile and I had long curly hair through most of teens and twenties.
My life now would be too boring for words. Some French art-house flick where nothing happens and there’s just a lot of frstration and confusion. Winona Ryder cold play me (I do look a bit like her apparently) and the humdrum would be complete!
Kelly
HI Natural
love your movie plot.
well mine would be a mind less comedy (with lots of humor and one table spoon of sense)
it will be me playing my self (i cant believe there is any one as confused as i am to replace my self)
Sunil Pathak’s last blog post..How To Make You Reader Fall In Love With Your Blog
Robert, I can see that one. This is super fun, some of you guys are picking personalities I would have picked for you. Others, I am having fun searching for a picture of your pick. Thanks RB.
Urban Panther, the spoiler? Uh I’ll get back to you. I don’t know Rachel W but I sure did do a search, I’ll have to look out for her so I can see what you might be like in real life. And I totally see Urbane Lion being played by George Clooney, that’s a good match for him.
Robin, they matched you with Anthony Hopkins, well now we know for sure that website is broken. I think I have 3 of my blogs on my blog roll, “my closed wallet, the web’s finest and nothing but nets”. I haven’t figured all of what happen in the movie, but it would be an adventure and funny.
Monique, I could see you in a comedy, maybe a dramedy. I would have chosen Mo’Nique to play you as well. She is funny.
Tara, hello and welcome. Ah Raiders, sounds adventurous! I like it. Sometimes I want to be Lara Croft, (Tomb Raider), she’s a bad girl. My other comedian would be Wanda Sykes, I like her a lot. Too funny and great delivery.
It’s My Tondy!, hey there. Always nice to see you out and about. I thought it would be a cool way to kind of get to “know” people through celebrity association and if more people wrote up their on synopsis, it could get interesting. I would love to read yours fo’sho, please come out of hibernation. Give it a try if you feel like it. I like Jodi Foster, she’s cool. I only know 3 of my suggested look-alikes, I need to take better pictures.
Dot, Sally Field…hmmm. Interesting and cool. I forgot all about her. She does play in a TV show that comes on Sunday right, Brothers and Sisters?
Roschelle, thanks, I need to go use that creativity somewhere they will pay me for it. Lol. Wow a mini-series. Deep. You’re a passionate person, at least that’s what I get from your writings. I’d show up for your movie.
Jay, thanks. it could work as a meme, I would love to see what people would come up with. Yes 5 blogs, not superwoman, crazy woman. Only 2 out of 5 need my attention on a regular. The rest are probably there for my pleasure and sharing info. and my money blog…can’t stop preaching personal finance.
Meleah, I have this amazing video in my head that’s bigger than my skills. I’ll contact you, but I’m going to try to get started on it. I need a camera crew and location. Even if I don’t get a chance to share it, I play it in my head everyday. Thanks!
Evelyn, hello again. Thanks for our chats last night in trying to help me. I’m still stumped, but I am glad we were able to work out a solution.
Kelly, my life story would be something else..if I could remember more of it.
Julia Roberts, Wynona Rider, that could be interesting. I guess we all think we live boring lives, but I know there’s some spice and zest in there somewhere.
Sunil Pathak thanks. Comedy for you! Yeah, I’d go see it. I hope there’s a picture of you on your blog, I’m going to match you up with someone. I too couldn’t think of anyone who could play me, but Ellen would be okay..she has this serious but funny act all the time…does it with a straight face too, but funny.
This was fun! Loved it! Keep ‘em coming and if you decide to write your own life story, leave a link here in the comments, I will read them, eventually.
will Smith oh yes !!!
sandy’s last blog post..I must join this guy today !!!
You like Mr. Smith too, huh, Sandy. I see you have excellent taste!
Yeah, I look at your picture, and the first person I think of is, Reese Witherspoon! You could be twins! I submitted my photo and NO MATCHES were found. This is not right. I’m sure I look like many celebrities. Boo.
If I could choose my leading actress, she would be Katherine Heigl. We don’t look alike, but I think she is funny and down-to-earth. Or else Angelina Jolie. Because we DO look alike.
JD at I Do Things’s last blog post..I Make a Good Thing Better so you don’t have to
JD, I know right, it has to be my blond hair….people stop me on the street for autographs all the time. I try to tell them, but they insist!
Katherine Heigl..don’t know who that is, but I’ll Yahoole her…I was thinking you had a striking resemblance to Angelina, you look more like Angie than Angie looks like herself.
@Natural i have one picture on my about author page, hope that will do
Sunil Pathak’s last blog post..Bloggers confusion: How Long A Blog Post Should Be
Hi Natural. I’m quite late to this “episode”, but as I was scrolling through my reader this title caught my eye.
My life would definitely be a drama, but I’m moving more towards comedy as I wanna start having fun! The actress who would play me is Meryl Streep. We look similar too. My favourite roles of her’s were in The Devil Wears Prada and Prime. I’ve also been told I resemble Ellen, but more through my mannerisms than my appearance.
I’m sorry to hear that you see your life situation as a tragedy. Anything I can do to offer you some insight?
Davina’s last blog post..Stepping Out Of These Old Shoes
Hey Davina, welcome back after being away. MS was good in that movie, evil, but good.
I don’t remember seeing a picture of you on your blog, but I could have overlooked it knowing me, will have to double check…I did see a picture of your feet. LOL
I would have to say I’m part tragedy turned comedy (not much drama). Thanks for the offer, I’m good.
You’re welcome. Glad you’re good.
Davina´s last blog post..I’m Over The Moon As NBOTW
Making your life a movie is now more relevant i think. All you have to do is have someone follow you around for a few years with a decent camcorder and record everything you do, thats the easy part. The hard part is going back o edit and cut the material you think people would enjoy seeing or be interested in, then post it on a website or youtube to see the traffic!
I’d get John Cusack to play old me, and Shia Labeouf to play young me.
My movie would be called “Back When I Was 4″ and would chronicle my life from when I was 4 all the way to when I will be 114.
Matthew Dryden´s last blog post..Time Flies Like An Arrow
Franco, well that’s true I guess, but who would want to follow anybody around for a few years? Editing takes forever, I know! YouTube would be a good place to start though for any video. Thanks.
Matthew, hey I like that you set your age to die pretty high, not in the 80’s or 90’s. I wish I could remember when I was four, I’m sure I did some funny stuff back then.
Hmm, that was an interesting question…
Although I would perhaps like to say something of the lines of James Bond (the way cool Roger Moore), I guess some sort of geek-comedy would be much closer to the truth. Maybe with Owen Wilson in the lead - having a lot going for him but still always managing to partially mess it up in some way
Definitely a drama right now !
Hey Michael, geek comedy? I would watch that for sure. Almost anything that’s funny.
Samantha, a drama? Really, what’s going on I wonder.
