If You Were An Acronym
If you were an acronym, who would you be or which one best describes you?
I would almost swear, if I swore, that I am S.A.D. or Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Wikipedia says: Seasonal affective disorder, also known as winter depression, is an affective, or mood, disorder. Most SAD sufferers experience normal mental health throughout most of the year, but experience depressive symptoms in the winter or summer. The condition in the summer is often referred to as Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Why? Because my mood is so dependant upon the sun, and when it’s not out, I’m not interested in getting out of bed, I don’t want to look out the window and it takes physical strength just to leave the house. I know I’m not the only one, so c’mon, who are you?
There are so many to choose from and I’m certainly not poking fun at anyone, I know these disorders are real, I would never do that, in public. Pick one below or comment on your own. Are you….
CFS - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
ADHD - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
RLS - Restless Leg Syndrome
CD - Conduct Disorder
ASD - Acute Stress Disorder
AAADD - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder*
AS - Adam Syndrome**
*A fictitious acronym taken from an email joke that was widely circulated in 2006-07. A.A.A.D.D. is supposed manifested by the person who goes through the day being visually distracted by environmental stimuli. At the end of the day the person with AAADD has left behind a trail of started but unfinished projects.
**I made this one up myself and I’ll have to tell you about it in another post when I feel like dragging out my soap box.

My name is Valerie aka Natural and I will be writing about whatever is on my mind. I love teaching, dialogue, sharing and making people laugh. I never know what I'll share here but this is me, Thinking Out Loud.

I agree with the disorders. I have it too. I have the AAADD disorder and the SAD disorder and the CFS disorder the definitely the ASD disorder. Wow! I need to go home and to bed right this minute.
Great post! I have FS (fibromyalgia syndrome), CSD (chronic stress disorder), PTSD, GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and CDD (chronic depressive disorder). My son has bipolar disorder and GAD which sometimes makes me wish I’d stayed in bed when he has a bad day. I’m fortunate that all are well-managed with medication and I feel like getting out of bed and being productive most every day. I still love to lay in bed and read on a cold, rainy day, though. I think it’s more a pleasure thing than a depressive thing. I stay there because it’s warm and cozy and comfortable. We don’t get many cold rainy days, so that works out well. We live in a warm climate and air-condition 9 months out of the year. Sometimes we may only use the heat for a total of a few weeks the whole year.
I feel I’m that way too, sometimes I gets so easily distracted I can’t even focus on one simple thing.
