Money Monday Tip #10

Today I’d like to highlight two financial books that are a must read if you are serious about getting your finances in order. There are no paid affiliate links on my personal blog, this is a free plug for Dave and Larry.

TMMO

The first book, The Total Money Make Over is the probably the one that opened my eyes the most when it came to using credit cards.

This book gave me the “gazelle intensity” I needed. Dave puts a fire in your belly and inspires you to action with his words and personal examples of “if I can do it…..”

He believes that everyone has the ability to lift themselves out of their situation if they would focus on getting out of debt and start doing smart things with their money. If you follow his baby steps for getting control of your finances, this stuff works.

I’m working the baby steps and it has been a journey of financial peace. Thanks Dave!

The second book I’d like to highlight is You’re Broke Because You Want to Be! What I like broke about this book is that it’s very down to earth and written by a guy who came from nothing! Larry said he wrote the book “for the average person who has a job, makes a living and still can’t seem to get ahead.”

I’m sure we all know someone who can identify with these sentiments. Often times too, we sabotage our greatest wealth building tool, our income, by doing stupid stuff with our money. We make bad choices and then wonder why we can’t seem to get ahead.

His book is very blunt, in your face and shows us how our actions contradict what we say we want out of life. If you want to stop getting by and start getting ahead, then this book is a must read.

You can visit your local library or buy the books used, just make sure you read them!  Knowledge is great, but without application, it’s nothing!

There is a simple way to deal with credit cards, and you really don’t need a book to tell you. It’s a matter of common sense, which is the following: Use a credit card as infrequently as possible. If you use one, pay the entire amount due when you get the bill, no ifs, ands or buts. End of story.

Hi Alan that is so easy to say and so hard to do. Common sense is not so common today.
