Vegetate Day

Once a month, for a several hours anyway, I push everything aside and I relax, physically and mentally. Never mind the pile of laundry that needs to be ironed. So what the dishes aren’t washed right after a meal. I’m a full time pajama lounger. My hair probably doesn’t see a comb until the next day.

Vegetate Day is when I ignore responsibility and I don’t feel bad about it. I lie in bed with no agenda and watch TV or catch up on movies that I have been meaning to watch. One of my favorite TV shows from the late 80’s was Beauty and the Beast starring Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton. I’m actually watching Season 1 right now as I type this post. The writing, the poetry, the classical music gave it a huge following among women as probably the most romantic show during its time. It’s a beautiful show and if you haven’t seen an episode, this series deserves a spot in your DVD collection. Watch it with a loved one and a bottle of Advil you will need from crying. The TV sound track consists of poetry read by Perlman himself as well as a selection of some of the best classical music.

Some of my other favorites include: Sisters, The Cosby Show, Murphy Brown and The Honeymooners. To me, this is when TV was good! What were some of your favorite, but not forgotten shows?

A vegetate day is a good thing..something I will do now and again just as an experiment to see if the laundy will wash itself..(never does but it doesn’t hurt to try now and again)…seeing my DVD collection consists of Smokey and the Bandit 1,2,3 and I’ve seen it umpteen times (I have a thing for Sally Fields..:):)..) I usually read a book while horizontal on the couch…

LOL, I remember Beauty and the Beast, I liked the show, but in Zimbabwe instead of the 80’s they showed it in the 90’s. Vegetate days really leave me feeling guilty, but I have them anyways. Glad to know you’re relaxing

I loved this show. Just ordered the 2nd Season. I had them all on VHS, but that library took up too much space. I also had to get rid of my Murphy Brown/Sisters collection for the same reason.

I loved Sisters. Equally great was Murphy Brown. Great flashbacks. I need to take more Vegatate days. :)

I wonder if Sisters is on DVD, I’m going to check now. I know Murphy Brown is. Vegetate Days are great, you wake up with renewed energy to do all that stuff you didn’t do the day before and you feel like you’ve done something for yourself. At least I do, a little “me” time.

I have the DVD. Need I say more? They don’t make ‘em like this anymore :)

They sure don’t Face Natural. I’m waiting on the 2nd season to come in the mail.

I also enjoyed the X-Files as well. There still are some good shows out there, but very few.
